Liam's Cheesy Smile

Liam is such a little ham. His newest thing is smiling...so if you tell him to "Smile" he will flash this big cheesy grin with his eyes squinted shut and everything. It is too funny!!

Our first snake

So, lots of people here have had their encounters with snakes in their yards...well we had our first one on Saturday!! Poor Sarah goes to take Liam out back while I was finishing up dinner. She barely get's out the back door and comes running back in, slams the door and starts screaming and crying..."Snake, snake, there's a snake out back" Thankfully we have lots of windows looking out back, cause I wasn't about to go out:) I was a little relieved to see that it was a baby snake and not some big one, but still, it's a snake just the same. Good thing Bill was here and that he's brave and not that afraid of snakes. He tried pushing it off the patio with a shovel and that little snake was fiesty. It kept coiling up and striking the shovel. So Bill got it into the grass and chopped the head off...nice, huh? But then, he picks up the body to show all of us...sooo gross!! So here's our snake pictures and I promise Mom, no more insect, bug, or creature pictures;D

LOVE this time of year

Just wanted to write that I absolutely LOVE the weather right now!! It is soooooo nice out. I love being able to be outside and not sweat to death just standing and doing nothing. I love feeling the nice cool breeze...it's awesome. I have noticed so many more people out and about now that it's cooled down a little. It's funny cause other places, not in the south, people usually hibernate during the winter...but here it's during the summer=D

Liam's Eye Surgery

Just to let everyone know, Liam's surgery on his tear duct went perfectly. It only took a little over an hour for the surgery. It's pretty cool cause they will call you when the surgery starts and when it's over, plus we met with the doctor and she let us know how everything went and what to expect afterwards. It was very reassuring to always know what was going on. They'd given Liam some Demerol after the surgery so he was out when they brought him to us. He pretty much slept all day...he'd wake up a little, throw up, drink and then go back to sleep. He ran a fever which worried us a little but it came down with some Tylenol and about 3:00 he was up and running around. He's such a little trooper and he was so good. I am so thankful for so many thoughts and prayers:)

FINALLY!!!!

Fort Carson, here we come!!! Bill found out today that there was an assignment available for Carson and he said I want it!! So they plugged him in for that slot and we should have official orders soon!! I can't even believe it!! It's truly an answer to prayers and a total dream come true. We've waited 14 long years to finally be back "home". We hope to be leaving here around the 20th of December and be out to mom's for Christmas. Now we just need to pray that we can get housing right away...that'd be perfect. Or maybe we'll rent mom's house:D We'll see. We are just so happy and can't wait to be able to see everyone more often!!! WOOHOO!!!

Weekend Recipe

Okay so before summer is over here's a really good BBQ recipe to try. We made it last weekend and it is sooo easy and very good. The hot sauce gives it a little kick. Very good though.

4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thawed
1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce
3/4 cup your favorite BBQ Sauce
4 TBSP melted butter
2 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce

Combine sauces and butter in ziploc bag. Place chicken in ziploc bag and marinate for at least 1 hour.

Grill and enjoy!!

It's that simple:)

Liam

Liam with his eyes dilated... He had an eye appointment to see what they can do about his blocked tear duct. He's had it since birth and his eye just waters constantly and will get goopy and crusty. So on the 17th of September, he'll have surgery to unblock the tear duct. The actual procedure only takes about 15 minutes and he'll be completely out for it. I'm a little nervous but mostly anxious to get it taken care of and not have to worry about it anymore.
