Backyard Wildlife

Here's the view from our back patio. There's a perimeter fence off in the distance and this is where we have seen some coyotes and deer. We guess they are trying to get back on the other side of the fence.

Pretty cool, huh? It's funny because when we lived in Alabama I'd post pictures of all the creepy crawly creatures we'd come across and here it's deer and coyotes...huge difference =D Wonder what we'll see next...bears?? Yikes!! As long as they don't get too close to our house we're okay =D I like them being close enough to see but not too close, ya know?

Matt

My brother Matt, who lives about 5 hours away in Grand Junction, was at my Mom's this past weekend to put in hardwood floors for her so he and my mom came over for dinner Saturday night while my Dad was at church meetings. It was so much having them over. I am absolutely loving being close to family. After dinner Matt was playing with Liam and he kept spinning him and throwing him up in the air. We kept waiting for Liam to throw up but he loved it and kept asking for more...crazy kid!! It was great seeing my brother :) We love you Matt!!

Mostly Done

Here are the last pictures of our house for awhile...anyone sick of them yet? :) I still need to do each of the boys rooms but I'm in no hurry. My bedroom furniture used to be a light pine color and we painted it black which I LOVE!! Sarah's room has curtains now and is finally done. The mountain view is from our landing going upstairs. And notice the garage...this is why the post is titled "Mostly Done" :) I still have boxes of paper and empty boxes and full boxes and boxes of things to donate, etc. There is just a little path to the garbage can, how funny is that? That is my next project but again, I'm in no hurry :)

Sarah's room

What a difference a day makes!! My mom and I did this yesterday!! Sarah helped too :) She colored the three pictures above her bed. It's so bright and colorful now and Sarah just absolutely loves it!! A big thanks to my mom for her talent and creativity!! I couldn't have done it without her!! Thanks mom, we love you!!

New Table

We love our new table and chairs!! There's also a leaf that folds down in and it seats 8 very comfortably with plenty of room. Our only complaint is that it's hard to slide the chairs up to the table when you're sitting on them. We have to do this little bunny hop thing to try to scoot forward :) But other than that we love it!! I especially like the counter-height.

A few more...

Looking out from the kitchen there is a half bath and the laundry room is in the closet to the right. Across from that is the door to the garage. The room where we have our computer is technically a dining room ?????? Weird, I know...they should have just pushed that out and made the living room a big rectangular room. Oh well. It works good for our piano and computer. I think I'm going to take out the black chest and put some kind of bench to make a little window seat. I'm sure everything will change 10 times before I get it just right and how I want it.

House Pictures

Okay, here are some pictures...finally. I'm not quite done with the decorating part. I still have pictures to put on the walls but you can get a feel for the layout...just don't look too closely:) I forgot how much work it is unpacking everything and trying to find a place for it all. The only storage we have here is the garage. Which is nice, but good luck trying to fit a car in. There's just no way when you have as much stuff as we do. The kitchen is small, but overall, the layout is nice and has a good feel. The backyard is TINY!! We can't even put up our trampoline because it would literally take up 90% of the yard. But then the views are incredible. So I guess everything's a trade off. It couldn't be perfect, after all this is military housing not our dream home, right? I'll do another post with a few more pictures of the downstairs. We get a new dining room set this Friday so there will be lots more pictures to come...plus I still need to take pictures of the upstairs. The rooms are really good sized and my bathroom is huge!!! It's probably one of my favorite things here. Double sinks, tons of room, a walk-through closet...it's awesome!! I'll take pictures and post them soon :)

Painting

So we decided to paint here. I loved how our house in Alabama was painted a nice taupe throughout. It gave such a nice, warm feeling rather than just plain white walls. I lucked out having my mom here. She helped Bill and they both did the majority of the painting. I helped with the dining room but they did the rest. We painted the front room an olive green, the computer room and dining room are taupe. I wanted to paint my kitchen a cool barn red but after doing the dining room I decided to just keep the kitchen white. There are too many edges and corners and things that would have to be taped and painted around. It's just easier leaving it :)
